Q. How do I sign up for (or renew) my New York Times academic group pass?

Current ASU faculty, staff and students can sign up for your own New York Times account!

Our instructions guide for creating and renewing an ASU Library New York Times Academic Group Pass will be updated soon to include the following procedure:

The process for renewals and new subscriptions has changed and now requires signing in using your ASU email account (asurite@asu.edu) through the Google sign in option. Here are the steps...

  • Click on this link https://libguides.asu.edu/nytimesagrppass,
  • If you are off campus, click on:  go
  • If you are on campus, click the hyper-linked: here
  • You'll be taken to the create a new account page.
  • Use the Continue with Google button.
  • A pop-up page will appear.
  • If your ASU email (@asu.edu) is already saved, select it!
  • If it asks for a Gmail address (or if you have a different email address saved), 
    input your ASU email address (asurite@asu.edu) NOT your firstname.lastname@asu.edu alias!
  • It will take you to a myASU login page.
  • Sign in as if you were signing in to myASU.
  • This should take you to the next steps in which you select that you are Faculty or Student.
  • Once your account is renewed you won’t need to use the link in the guide until you need to renew; instead, use the normal link nytimes.com.
