Q. How do I find an item if I already have the full citation - author, title, etc.?

Answer

There are several ways to see if we have the article, book or other item you need.

  • You can try our Citation Linker.
    • Remember to select the appropriate option on the form for:
      • Article  (including DOI, if known)
      • Book
      • Journal
  • You can also search by the citation information in One Search.
  • Another option is to change the One Search dropdown to Google Scholar.
    • Then search for the citation in Google Scholar.

Remember, to access full text from off campus, you need to be a current ASU student, faculty or staff AND you must be signed in to the library system.

If the full citation doesn't work to find the item, try searching for the title of the article, chapter or book.

  • Put quotation marks around the title to force the words to be searched as a phrase.

And if we don't have the full text available (and if you are a current ASU student, faculty or staff), you can request a copy of the article or chapter through your Interlibrary Loan ILLIAD account!

  • For directions on how to submit an ILL request, refer to the ASU library guide https://libguides.asu.edu/interlibraryloan
