Q. How do I use Library One Search?

Answer

The Library One Search is located on the ASU Library home page http://lib.asu.edu

  • Enter your search terms, or the title of a book or article, in the big search blank for the Library One Search.
    • If you already have the title of a book or article:
      • Be sure to place quotation marks around the title. Then click the Search Library icon.
      • If we have it, your entry should appear in the first few search results.
      • You can also limit or refine your search with the limiters on the left side of the results page.
    • If you just have a topic to research:
      • Type the keywords or place quotation marks around a phrase. Then click the Search Library icon.
      • Refine your search results with the limiters on the left side of the results page.
      • At the bottom of a category, such as Subject, you will see a link that says More...
        • Click the "More..." link.
        • It opens a new column with a longer list of options for that category.
        • Check whichever terms you wish to use, scroll to the top of the column, and click Apply.
        • Note: Each limiter shows the number of items that are filed under a particular term. Clicking more than one limiter in a group will give you a larger group of hits not smaller number of results.
        • Most research databases have limiters and "More options..." that will help make your searching more productive.
